Integrated UPI dispute handling in the Customer Area
UPI disputes in India are now integrated into your global dispute workflow. You no longer need email exchanges with local banks or support teams. All new UPI disputes will appear in your Customer Area, where you can review, respond, and defend them using the same process as other payment methods.
Automated workflows that reduce operational effort
This upgrade brings full automation to a process that was previously manual and time consuming. You save operational effort, avoid local handoffs, and reduce risk by managing every step in one place. With the global workflow in place, your teams can work faster and stay aligned across regions and channels.
How to prepare and take action
Check that your dispute webhooks are enabled so you stay informed in real time. Also, make sure to verify that you have the right user roles to manage disputes:

Then, continue managing UPI disputes through your usual workflow in the Customer Area or through the Dispute API. For more details, see the documentation or contact your Adyen team.
Please note: this new dispute workflow is only available on Adyen Direct, not on our older UPI partner connections.
