Verify cardholder names with Name Validation
We’ve launched Name Validation to help you verify a cardholder’s name with the issuing bank during a zero-amount transaction. Reduce fraud, meet KYC requirements, and make more confident payment decisions.
December 2025
Gain confidence with every transaction
We’re introducing Name Validation, a new feature that lets you verify a cardholder’s name against the issuing bank during a zero-amount transaction. Until now, there was no way to confirm a user’s name directly with the issuer. With this update, you can strengthen your fraud prevention strategy and meet Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements without adding friction to your checkout flow.
How Name Validation helps your business
When you submit a name through a zero-auth transaction, the issuer returns a match, partial match, or no match result. This helps you decide whether to proceed with the payment or take further action. Whether you need to verify identities for compliance, reduce fraudulent transactions, or ensure payouts reach the right person, Name Validation adds an extra layer of protection to your online payments.
Start integrating today
Name Validation is available through our Docs page. Each supported request costs 0.10 and only applies when you receive a valid response from the issuer. Visit our documentation to start building your integration and reach out to your Adyen representative if you have any questions.
