IRIS is now available through Adyen, helping you meet new Greek regulations by offering a required local instant payment method online and in store.

IRIS support to meet new regulatory requirements
New legislation in Greece requires businesses to support an instant payment method both online and in store. To help you stay compliant, IRIS is now available through Adyen. This local payment method is mandatory under the new rules and will be expected by customers at checkout. Offering IRIS reduces the risk of declined or abandoned transactions as regulation has gone into effect.
How IRIS works on Adyen
IRIS is a Greek local instant payment method that enables real-time account-to-account payments. You can process IRIS transactions through Adyen after requesting activation from your local Greek bank. IRIS is supported for in-person payments on Verifone Engage terminals using firmware version 1.120.7. For online payments, IRIS is available through API-only integrations. Support for Drop-in and Components integrations is planned by the end of Q1 2026.
How to get started
To begin offering IRIS, start with contacting your local Greek bank to request activation, then request the payment method via Adyen support. Review the available integration options to confirm compatibility with your setup. For more details, including integration guidance, visit our help pages or reach out to your Adyen contact for support.
