Hillarys moves point of sale payments to Adyen
The deal will allow 1000 sales agents to process offline payments from customers’ homes easily and securely.
Adyen, the leading payments technology company, today announced that Hillarys, the leading retailer and manufacturer of made-to-measure window coverings and carpets, has chosen Adyen’s platform to process its point of sale transactions.
The Hillarys Group has an annual turnover of £175m, and ships 35,000 bespoke products every week. To help support the continued success of the company’s in-home channel, Hillarys was on the lookout for a flexible payments partner, capable of meeting the specific requirements of its business model: Providing a seamless payment experience at the customers’ home – whether internet is available or not.
For most customers, the entire sales process takes place at their home. Once the order is complete, the payment is taken on the spot, and a date for fitting arranged. However, there has always been a problem in taking payments because mobile data connection is unavailable in about 20% of customers’ homes.
With Adyen’s point of sale solution, the company’s 1000 sales agents are now equipped with mobile terminals capable of processing offline payments. Further, Adyen’s mobile app is fully compatible with Hillarys’ existing mobile apps, helping to make the payments process quick and easy.
For high-value orders, Hillarys will also take advantage of Adyen Tokenization, in which card details are taken for an initial down-payment and securely stored by Adyen. This sensitive data is replaced by a token that can then be used to charge the final balance prior to installation. Because payment data is stored on Adyen’s server, Hillarys is able to outsource much of the workload associated with maintaining PCI Compliance.
