Adyen, the global financial technology platform of choice for leading businesses, today announced a strategic partnership with fast-growing Danish fintech unicorn Flatpay. The collaboration provides the framework for a transparent, "flat-rate," customer-centric model designed specifically for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) across Europe.

While Flatpay continues to own personal merchant relationships locally, Adyen will serve as a financial infrastructure partner. By providing robust acquiring capabilities and unified global architecture, Adyen will support Flatpay’s aggressive scaling plans across existing and new markets.

Facilitating Rapid Geographical Expansion

Flatpay is currently on a hyper-growth trajectory across seven key European markets, including Denmark, Germany, Finland, the UK, France, the Netherlands, and Italy. Supported by Adyen’s local acquiring capabilities and international licensing, Flatpay is uniquely positioned to scale its disruptive model smoothly into additional markets. By leveraging Adyen’s single platform alongside deep local card scheme integrations, Flatpay can rapidly adapt to the specific payment nuances of each country while improving authorization rates and reliability in active regions, all without the operational overhead of building localized financial back-office infrastructure from scratch.

"SMBs across Europe are looking for simplicity, reliability, and speed in their payments," said Tobias Lindh, Country Manager Nordics & Baltics at Adyen. "Flatpay’s high-touch model combined with Adyen’s unified technology stack creates a powerful combination. We are excited to support Flatpay’s growth trajectory as they expand into new markets and explore the future of embedded financial services."

Unlocking Next-Generation Financial Products

Moving forward, Flatpay will have the capability to integrate Adyen’s Embedded Finance suite into its platform. This optionality will open up for Flatpay to launch additional innovative product offerings, such as for example instant settlement, cash advances, business accounts, and card issuing.

With a customer base exceeding 100,000 merchants and growing by the thousands month-over-month, these value-added services will further support its evolution from a pure payments and POS provider into a broad financial ecosystem partner to SMBs.

"Flatpay was built to reduce complexity and do away with the unreasonable fees and poor customer service that SMBs have faced for decades," said Sander Janca-Jensen, CEO and Co-founder of Flatpay. "As we scale further across Europe, having a partner like Adyen allows us to maintain our hyper-local and personal merchant relationships while backing them with world-class, enterprise-grade technology. This partnership undoubtedly positions Flatpay even better for further growth and expansion.”
