Adyen, the global financial technology platform of choice for leading businesses, today announced its partnership with British consumer electronics retailer CeX in Malaysia. Since July 2025, CeX Malaysia has been rolling out Adyen’s Unified Commerce solution for its ecommerce website and in-person payments in all 11 of its stores nationwide.

CeX operates a hybrid model of corporate units and franchises in Malaysia, meaning franchise owners previously managed isolated contracts with various local financial institutions. Without standardized reporting across these payment vendors, CeX faced burdensome manual reconciliations, operational bottlenecks, and a higher risk of human error.

Implementing Adyen’s single platform solved this complexity: simplifying payments management and streamlining reporting across all Malaysian franchisees under one roof.

Single integration to Adyen enables payment efficiency at scale

Integrating with proprietary, custom-built software can be incredibly complex. However, Adyen was able to successfully integrate with CeX’s bespoke POS software, allowing the retailer to operate with newfound ease.

This integration is particularly vital for CeX. Unlike traditional retailers that only sell to consumers, CeX operates a multi-directional model – buying, selling, and trading of goods with customers – which requires highly specialized, agile backend tools.

“As CeX Malaysia continues to grow, it is important for us to work with partners that can support our operational needs across channels and stores,” said Dan Brannigan, Head of Operations at CeX Malaysia. “Working with Adyen as a single payment partner helps simplify reporting processes, reduce manual operational work, and provide greater visibility across transactions.”

Today, CeX works with Adyen to reconcile and settle transactions seamlessly across diverse payment methods including DuitNow, GrabPay, Mastercard, Visa, and JCB in one standardized format. Through Adyen’s single platform, CeX Malaysia is also able to achieve a single overview of its transactions, manage its terminal fleet across locations easily.

“Retailers today require payment solutions that can adapt to increasingly unique and complex operating models,” said Soon Yean Lee, Country Manager, Malaysia, Adyen. “We are pleased to support CeX Malaysia with a flexible solution that integrates seamlessly with their bespoke tools, while supporting a more unified view of transactions across channels and stores.”

As CeX Malaysia continues to grow its operations, the partnership with Adyen also lays the foundation for more connected commerce experiences and richer customer insights across channels in the future.
