Adyen, the financial technology platform of choice for leading businesses, announces its appointment  as a Principal Member of the Groupement des Cartes Bancaires CB. Simultaneously, Adyen has become a direct participant in the European clearing system STET.

CB: France’s leading network

By joining the CB network, Adyen is integrating directly with France's leading domestic payment scheme, which handles 15 billion transactions annually. This Principal Member status provides Adyen with enhanced operational and financial control.

From the end of Q1 2026, Adyen’s servers will be directly connected to the CB network without intermediaries, ensuring total service continuity and optimized performance for its merchants.

Adyen: The first new direct participant in the STET network in two decades

By becoming a direct participant in STET, the European clearing system, Adyen will now manage all transaction processing in-house. This strategic integration highlights Adyen’s commitment to streamlining and controlling the entire payment value chain.

“Becoming a Principal Member of CB is a major milestone in our ongoing commitment to the French market,” said Pieter van der Does, Co-founder and Co-CEO of Adyen. “It gives us greater operational control and allows us to deliver a more seamless payment experience on France’s leading card network. At the same time, our participation in STET will further streamline clearing processes, supporting the reliability and quality our customers expect.”

"We are delighted to welcome Adyen as a Principal Member of CB, France's premier national card and mobile payment network" said Philippe Laulanie, CEO of CB. "Adyen has successfully scaled internationally by prioritizing strong local integrations. As a partner of choice, we look forward to working together to drive continuous innovation in the payment industry."
