Adyen and Sabre partner to modernize airport payments at check-in
Bringing in-person payments into Sabre’s airport application through Adyen helps airlines speed up check-in payments and unify operations across online and airport channels.

Connecting the checkout from online booking to the airport gate
Fragmented airport payment setups shouldn't slow down travelers. Yet, disconnected systems often make paying for extra baggage at the check in or upgrading a seat at the boarding gate feel slow and inconvenient.
Sabre and Adyen are partnering up and offering a new integration for faster and more convenient airport payments. The solution is available for airlines that use Sabre's airport front-end to accept Adyen payments. By embedding Adyen's Terminal API directly into Sabre's airport front-end application, airlines can securely accept payments at the point of departure through the same platform that they use for their digital experiences.
Transactions are processed within the Sabre workflow and automatically linked to the passenger record, connecting payments across their whole journey, from booking to boarding.
Streamlining airport operations for global airlines
The integration directly improves back-office operations for global airlines. By running card-present and digital transactions on a single global platform, airlines can enjoy:
Real-time transaction visibility: Access a complete, consolidated view of transaction data across both physical airport counters and digital touch points.
Financial reconciliation: Eliminate disconnected billing systems and manual reporting by connecting all channels through a single partner.
Reduced IT overhead: Reduce hardware complexity and maintenance costs at the check-in desk, service counter, or gate.
“Integrating Adyen’s technology directly into our airport application solves a practical operational challenge for our airline partners.”
Patricio Boccardo, Managing Director at Sabre Payments

Smoother journeys for travelers
The integration improves the traveler experience by replacing slower payment systems with cloud-connected terminals that speed up transactions and help reduce airport queues. It also allows passengers to pay for excess baggage, seat upgrades, and priority boarding using their preferred local payment methods, including contactless cards and digital wallets.
“This joint solution lets airlines deliver a faster checkout experience for bags, upgrades, and ticketing, helping our customers protect revenue, enforce real-time authorization and support passengers at every airport touchpoint.”
Patricio Boccardo, Managing Director at Sabre Payments
Key highlights of this partnership:
In-person payments at the point of departure: Sabre integrates Adyen’s Terminal API via the Sabre Electronic Payment Gateway (SEPG) into Sabre Mosaic® Digital Workspace Air to support in-person payments for extra baggage, seat upgrades, and other purchases at the point of departure.
Cutting wait times at the gate: By reducing fragmented payment workflows, the integration helps airlines lower airport wait times through faster payments.
Unified payment operations: Adyen’s single platform gives airlines real-time transaction visibility across physical and digital touchpoints, simplifying financial reconciliation and reducing IT overhead.
“Connecting payment channels helps the travel industry move forward, and we’re glad to work with Sabre to make this happen at the airport gate. By bridging online booking engines and physical airport counters, we’re giving airlines the clear insights and operational reliability they need to meet their goals”.
