As our business grows, so does our opportunity to drive positive change

Impact often amplifies when you enable others to drive change. Operating at the centre of global commerce gives us an opportunity to do exactly that. We’re able connect the world’s biggest enterprise businesses, millions of customers, and our global workforce to the causes that matter to them.

In 2022, we made a commitment to dedicate 1% of our net revenue to initiatives that advance social and environmental progress. Not as a once-off commitment, but a fixed pledge every year. This means that when Adyen grows, the 1% Fund grows with it.

But the opportunity goes beyond what we contribute directly. The scale and flexibility of the fund combined with our technology, resources, and global network create unique opportunities for others to drive meaningful change alongside us.

A model designed to multiply impact

The 1% Fund is more than a static source of funding. It accelerates impact within our ecosystem and Adyen's impact programs, powering Adyen Giving, impact grants, donation matching, as well as creating opportunities for our partners and people to engage. It’s structured around Adyen-led, customer-led, and employee-led initiatives, each creating opportunities for broader impact. In practice, this takes several forms:

  • Covering scheme and interchange fees, and waiving our own fees so that 100% of shopper donations made through Adyen Giving reach the nonprofit organizations of their choice. Some of the world’s leading brands — including Etsy, Gap, Delivery Hero, H&M, Uniqlo, Adidas, Ralph Lauren, and Crocs — already use Giving to make it easy for millions of shoppers to support causes they care about and enable fundraising at scale.

  • Funding Adyen-led grants and co-funded initiatives with merchants, including partnerships such as H&M Foundation and Mercy Corps, to direct capital where it can make a meaningful difference. In 2025, we committed over €3 million to customer-led co-grants and over €11 million to Adyen-led grant projects.

  • Matching donations from merchants using Adyen Giving and our employees, helping amplify contributions across our network in times of emergency and crisis.

  • Creating opportunities for our people and customers to engage directly, from field missions and skills-based volunteering to partnerships with local communities and evenings of impact.

“Our ambition is to reach €100 million in shopper donations through Giving by 2030. Having passed the €25 million mark in 2025, we want to accelerate our impact. Through the 1% Fund, we’re matching every Giving donation until the end of 2026 — doubling contributions and helping our customers support important causes at scale.”

Where we focus our direct investments

We don’t dictate which causes should matter most. Instead, we enable our customers, partners, and our people to support the causes that matter to them — and we accelerate the impact of their contributions.

Adyen-led investments are different. Here, we take a focused approach, concentrating our resources where global need, relevance to our ecosystem, and Adyen’s ability to contribute meaningfully intersect. This allows us to create a true multiplier effect by using our reach, technology, and expertise to make each investment go further.

This led us to three key focus areas:

Emergencies

Our global platform and financial infrastructure allow us to mobilize funding quickly in the event of a crisis. Alongside emergency response, we invest in organizations that help communities strengthen resilience before, during, and after emergencies to support both immediate relief and long-term recovery.

For example, our support for Médecins Sans Frontières’ Academy for Healthcare helps strengthen the skills of local medical professionals in crisis-affected regions, including Sierra Leone and South Sudan. Beyond funding, Adyen volunteers contributed their expertise to develop an AI-powered chatbot, helping extend the reach and impact of the program.

Environmental sustainability

Global commerce depends on resilient supply chains and a healthy planet. We invest in credible climate solutions that help businesses and communities transition towards a more sustainable future while strengthening the ecosystem we serve.

Our €3.9 million commitment over three and a half years to WWF Netherlands and the Netherlands Red Cross supports community-led nature-based solutions, such as restoring wetlands, mangroves, and riverbanks, to build climate resilience against floods and droughts in the Philippines, Malaysia, and the Netherlands. The initiative aims to protect 4,460 hectares of ecosystems and improve resilience for more than 184,000 people.

Education

Expanding access to digital skills creates opportunities for individuals, businesses, and communities alike. By supporting education initiatives — particularly in technology — we help broaden participation in the digital economy and strengthen the talent pipeline for the future.

Together with Just Eat Takeaway, Miro, and TomTom, we co-funded the establishment of TUMO Amsterdam, an after-school education center offering free creative technology training to young people aged 12–18. The initiative helps make digital skills more accessible, particularly for underserved youth, empowering the next generation of builders.

Impact that scales with success

Growth gives us more than the opportunity to build a bigger business. It gives us more to work with: greater resources, broader reach, and an expanding ecosystem of people and businesses with the power to make a difference.

The 1% Fund is how we put that potential to work. And as Adyen continues to grow, so will our ambition for what 1% can make possible.
