Domino's Pizza Opts for Cashless Payments with Adyen
Adyen today announces that its omni-channel payments solution has been selected by Domino’s Pizza in the Netherlands. Adyen enables Domino’s Pizza’s franchised restaurants to process online transactions via credit cards and iDEAL at no extra cost to the consumer. Domino’s Pizza reports that since rolling out the Adyen payment solution online, the number of non-completed orders has significantly decreased while average transaction value (ATV) has risen.
Domino’s Pizza selected Adyen because of the extensive payment method support, and the possibility to support online, mobile and point-of-sale payments centrally from the same platform. The new payment solution enables customers to place orders online or via the Domino’s Pizza mobile app anywhere, anytime – they can then pay with the method of their choice. Domino’s Pizza plans to extend its use of Adyen to the point-of-sale by rolling out Adyen Shuttle mPOS terminals to its franchised restaurants across the Netherlands.
André ten Wolde, General Manager at Domino´s Pizza, Netherlands, explains, "Ordering a pizza should be easy, including the payment part. The customer should be able to make the payment at the same time as placing an order according to his or her preference, whether that is by credit card, iDEAL or via a PIN terminal. Adyen supports all of these possibilities and this approach is greatly appreciated by our customers. By using the Adyen payments platform, we can make all payment methods available to our franchisers under one umbrella: online, via the app and in the future also in the restaurants."
The decision to implement a new cashless payment platform was also driven by the necessity to improve safety for Domino’s Pizza delivery couriers. Following the introduction of the Adyen solution, online orders and cashless payments have risen to over forty percent of the total number of payments processed, which has had the effect of halving the number of attempted thefts perpetrated against cash-carrying delivery couriers.
Roelant Prins, CCO, Adyen, commented, "In the Netherlands, it is incredible to note that over seven million Domino’s Pizzas are consumed each year. Of this total, approximately sixty percent are ordered online. Adyen is very happy to have supported Domino’s Pizza in its goal to implement a simplified and more convenient online payments experience. With Domino’s Pizza already reporting an increase in the number of online orders and cashless payments being processed, it is clear this strategy is resonating with its Dutch customers.”
