Adyen Selected by SNKRDUNK to Support Global Payments
Adyen’s AI-powered fraud detection reduces false declines and improves authorization rates for SNKRDUNK, one of Japan’s largest collectibles marketplaces
Adyen, the global financial technology platform of choice for leading businesses, today announced that it has been selected as the global payments partner for SODA Inc., operator of SNKRDUNK, one of Japan’s largest fashion and collectibles marketplaces, to strengthen fraud prevention, improve authorization rates and deliver a smoother payment experience for users.
SNKRDUNK is a leading consumer-to-consumer marketplace for high-value, trend-driven products like trading cards, brand bags, jewelry and other fashion items. As demand for these categories continues to grow internationally, SNKRDUNK faced a conundrum: blocking fraudulent transactions without accidentally turning away genuine shoppers. Traditional fraud prevention tools are often overly restrictive, leading to 'false positives' where legitimate transactions are mistakenly declined. This frustrates genuine buyers, erodes brand trust, and results in lost sales opportunities.
To this end, SODA Inc. has deployed Adyen Uplift, an AI-powered payment optimization suite designed to boost revenue, automate fraud prevention, and lower processing costs. By using AI trained on trillions of dollars’ worth of global payments data processed on Adyen’s single platform, Adyen helps SODA identify genuine and fraudulent transactions more accurately.
“In a C2C marketplace that handles high-value, trend-sensitive products, it is extremely important that payments are smooth and that users can buy what they want at the moment they want it,” said Satoshi Kaji, Executive Officer and COO of SODA Inc. “Balancing risk management and driving conversion has been a long-standing challenge, but we are confident that Adyen’s data-driven solution will enable us to achieve safe and secure purchases for our customers. Going forward, we look forward to working with Adyen as a strong partner as we expand into physical stores and global markets using payments as a force multiplier for the business.”
SNKRDUNK adopted Adyen’s payments platform across its global ecommerce operations in February 2026, with plans to gradually roll out the technology to its physical stores worldwide.
Payment efficiency at scale
Centralizing payment management across e-commerce and physical retail on Adyen’s single platform reduces operational complexity for SODA. By consolidating the payment gateway, risk management, and acquiring under a single provider, the marketplace operator eliminates the need to manage multiple third-party vendors and fragmented relationships – a critical advantage as SODA scales globally.
The single integration to Adyen also allows SODA to activate more payment methods easily, including major credit cards and preferred Japanese methods such as PayPay. Integrating payment data in this way will give SODA a clearer view of its global customers, helping the business better understand payment preferences, optimize the checkout experience and support its international growth.
“We are truly honored that Adyen’s platform has been selected by SODA,” said Adam Brownstein, Japan Country Manager, Adyen. “For companies like SODA that are pursuing global expansion with speed and agility, payments are no longer just a back-office function, but a strategic tool for accelerating growth. We are confident that Adyen’s technology, powered by Adyen Uplift, will transform risk management into a conversion engine that serves as the foundation for SODA’s continued growth.”
