Payment methods in Romania

Romania is one of the biggest e-commerce markets in Central and Eastern Europe. Cards and contactless payments are popular with Romanians. Card schemes Visa and Mastercard are used the most. During the pandemic, cash payments greatly decreased, resulting in more card and contactless payments. Digital wallets are also becoming increasingly widespread. Despite this shift toward electronic payments, many Romanians still prefer to pay with cash or online via cash on delivery.
