Toys“R”Us Asia has taken another step in its ongoing digital transformation, adopting ADYEN (AMS:ADYEN) as its online payments provider across multiple markets in the Asia region. The retailer has been experiencing significant growth on its ecommerce platforms across the region and plans to build on that trajectory with a strong partner that shares its vision of further enhancing the online experience for its customers. In Hong Kong and Malaysia, Toys“R”Us benefits from Adyen’s unified payments solution that simplifies settlements in local currencies.

Traditionally a bricks-and-mortar business where shoppers can see, touch and even try out products prior to purchase, over the past three years, Toys“R”Us Asia has undertaken an ambitious digital transformation, optimizing its existing ecommerce service as part of its broader strategy to adapt to how customers are shopping today. In strengthening its online presence and enhancing the customer experience, Toys“R”Us wanted a payments experience that integrated smoothly with their new and existing systems. Adyen’s single-platform solution and acquiring capabilities offer Toys“R”Us a better overview of payments data and the ability to offer shoppers local payment methods. These include AlipayHK and WeChat Pay HK in Hong Kong, and GrabPay MY in Malaysia.

“Toys“R”Us stores are known across the Asia region as the destination for the best range of toys which fuel a child’s imagination and which parents trust, but we know that shoppers today also want the same convenient and enjoyable experience shopping at Toys“R”Us online,” said Tim Halaska, Regional GM of Digital Strategy at Toys“R”Us Asia. “Partnering with Adyen enables us to focus on growing our online footprint to reach even more customers and recreating that seamless Toys“R”Us shopping experience online.”

“Online shoppers today expect to be able to buy across platforms and pay in their local currency and preferred payment method,” said Warren Hayashi, President of Asia-Pacific, Adyen. “Adyen gives Toys“R”Us actionable payment insight on its shoppers to help transform and grow its ecommerce presence in the region.”

Adyen also processes online payments for Toys“R”Us for shoppers in Thailand and Taiwan.

With Adyen’s direct connections to card schemes and local payment methods, Toys“R”Us Asia can quickly bring new markets online, because Adyen can process payments in all local currencies. Thanks to its full-stack payments solution, Adyen can also quickly add new local payment methods as they become available. Behind all these features is an integrated back-end, centralized customer relationship management (CRM) solution that gives Toys“R”Us meaningful insights for business and marketing plans.
