Adyen - Graduation Internships & Mechanical Master Program
Adyen is growing fast – but we are still very much at the beginning of our global ambitions. To help us grow, we have a comprehensive student internship program. The research and work of our student program solves real problems for our merchants, and helps us stay at the forefront of global payments innovation – and we specifically seek people who will join us as employees on completion of their program. In fact, from a headcount of 600+ people, over 100 students have completed programs with Adyen so far, and the average age in the company is just 28.
At this moment we are specifically seeking students who are:
- Completing a graduation thesis while testing our point-of-sale solution (Computer Science majors only), and
- Joining our Mechanical Master program, working on automating repetitive processes across a number of Adyen teams.

Point of sale test graduation thesis
When you swipe your card to make a payment, you probably don’t think about the processes behind it. But when you take into account all the possible variations in steps, from card brands, card entry modes (chip, swipe, or contactless) to loyalty points and mistakes by the shopper, there are hundreds of potential flows.
Testing these possibilities manually is not an option. We use robots to automate the testing process, but still face challenges in terms of the completeness of the test set, and identifying and debugging erroneous execution paths experienced in production. And that is where you come in.
Some of the questions we need to answer include:
- How can we automatically generate test cases based on models, using Active or Passive Learning, generated from live payment data?
- Can we verify the completeness of the test set using models generated from live payment data?
- How do models generated using Passive Learning compare to models generated using Active Learning in terms of understandability and correctness?
And many more.

Mechanical Master Program
Scaling our organization and platform from nothing to $100 billion in transaction volume means that numerous processes which make sense to be done manually as a small company, no longer make sense with 600+ employees.
Our Mechanical Master program offers the opportunity to become familiar with Adyen technology, and make an impact by using automation, gamification and productization to structurally overcome operational challenges. In the meantime you will have the opportunity to learn new skills, such as Java or programming languages, as well as the possibility to go abroad with our rotation program to Singapore and San Francisco.
