Magento 1
end of life update

Magento has officially announced that all versions of Magento 1 will not receive new quality fixes or security patches as of June 1, 2020. We’ve been actively informing our merchants of this end of life (EOL) of Magento 1 over the past months.

We’re here to help our merchants grow, and to clear obstacles that may impede that growth. But we’re also here to keep our merchants safe, and a platform EOL can result in an increased risk of data breaches. We believe this risk can be mitigated by our merchants’ migration to Pay by Link - which redirects to an Adyen-hosted payment page - a recently launched product that is live with several merchants already. Further, merchants need to assess what additional controls need to be implemented to protect effectively their usage of an unsupported library and comply with applicable regulations.

To ensure that this migration is not an impediment to our merchants’ growth, we would like to offer a one-off compensation to all merchants that have implemented the new solution through the Adyen Magento plug-in by June 1, 2020 - as we are fully aware of the time and effort required for a migration project. We will reach out to these merchants with more information from July 2020 onward.

Please note that we have made this decision after speaking to dozens of affected merchants, and hearing their concerns. We fundamentally believe that this is the best solution to the current dilemma of Magento 1 EOL. We aim to have all merchants migrated off Magento 1 by the end of December 2020.
