Adyen Partners with FiloBlu

Despite having a primarily cash-based economy and weak economic growth, Italy is already the fifth biggest ecommerce market in Europe FiloBlu.

Its 16 million online shoppers drove approximately €6 billion in online retail sales in 2013.

But the interesting opportunity is not the current situation. It’s the potential.

Only around a quarter of Italians have made an online purchase in the past year, a proportion that is expected to increase to around 34% by the end of 2018.

Ecommerce growth is expected to surpass most major European markets in coming years, reaching €10 billion by 2018 at an annual rate above 9%.

And this opportunity is in a relatively stable, regulated market, where credit cards and PayPal are the preferred online payment methods (at 73% and 18% respectively) with a fast-growing mcommerce opportunity.

The number of people using retail apps and mobile sites reportedly jumped by 75% in 2013 and continues to grow at breakneck speeds off a low base.

Adyen partners with Italian ECommerce Experts FiloBlu

With ecommerce penetration rapidly approaching saturation point in northern European markets, Italy offers a unique opportunity for online retail brands to reach customers on the ground level of their digital shopping experiences.

To help businesses expand into the market (and Italian businesses expand internationally), Adyen has partnered with FiloBlu, a business that creates and develops ecommerce channels for the fashion, sportswear, design, and food industries.

FiloBlu projects that have integrated the Adyen platform for payments include ecommerce platforms for Santoni Shoes, AGL, Maliparmi, and Tucano Urbano.
